Sandy is Marty the Robot’s inventor. Sandy has a MEng in robotics from Heriot-Watt University, MSc in computational neuroscience and PhD in robotics from the University of Edinburgh, specialising in walking robots.

Finlay Page

Director of Product

Since early 2017, Finlay has been Robotical’s product and production lead. With a focus on designing experiences, Finlay has taken Marty from an early-adopters product to a robust offering that suits the needs of educators.

Christine MacLeod

Office Manager

Christine keeps the entire team in check and takes care of Robotical’s accounts. She is responsible for the logistics function of the business, organising Robotical’s support centre and making sure all queries get to the right person for a speedy reply.

Natalya Ratner

Marketing Director

Nat joined the start-up world in 2020 and is responsible for aligning marketing strategy with business objectives, lead generation and growing the Robotical brand internationally. Her two kids, aged 7 and 10, might just be Marty’s biggest fans.

Dr Nikos Theodoropoulos

Lead Developer

Nikos is responsible for the user-facing aspects of the website and mobile applications. Besides being a developer, Nikos has also a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience. He is looking for ways to combine his backgrounds and find integrated solutions to make Marty’s user interface more fun and appealing!

Hal Speed

Head of North America

With +20 years of experience in tech, Hal leads on strategy and implementation in North America, including growing market share and the distributor network. Hal enjoys travelling with Marty across North America to meet our partners and customers at various shows and events.

Calum Robertson

Business Development Manager

Calum looks after Robotical’s school partners, having daily conversations with teachers across the globe that revolve around getting Marty into as many schools as possible and driving the growth in the US. With experience in sales, design and marketing from various sectors, Calum will happily chat about Marty (or anything!) all day long.

Jane McNab

Content & Marketing Manager

Jane joined the Robotical team in 2023. Her role involves developing digital content, building brand awareness, and engaging with Marty fans in schools and businesses across the globe.

Hannah Dunn

Product Designer

Hannah joined Robotical in 2023 and is responsible for product development and maintenance. They have a passion for creating alternative learning formats that are available to children and young adults. Before Robotical Hannah attained a degree in Industrial Design and then went on to work in the public sector, creating services for the citizens of Scotland.

Rob Dobson

Chairman

Rob is a serial entrepreneur, technology investor, engineer and obsessive maker. Rob founded Actix in 1991 and, as CEO, built a highly profitable business to over £25m revenue, 250 staff and 12 offices worldwide. Besides Robotical, Rob currently chairs DevicePilot, and is a director of Singletrack and Float.

David Lane

Non-Executive Director

Professor Emeritus David Lane CBE FREng FRSE is a passionate scientist, innovator, educator & personal investor in the twin disciplines of Robotics & AI. 

Over a 40 year Academic career as Professor & Founding Director, he co-created the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics and National Robotarium and has published more than 300 peer reviewed papers engineering advanced cognition, sensing and bio-inspiration into unmanned systems. He led the 2014 UK RAS2020 Robotics & Autonomous Systems Strategy, has been appointed to the UK Govt AI Council, and appointed co-Chair of the UK Robotics Growth Partnership.
